Teradyne sees, "major surge in J750 orders"
Friday, 05 February 2010 23:37
Teradyne stated that as they exit 2009 they see, "a solid recovery in Semi Test from the $65 million trough order rate in the first quarter to nearly $265 million in the fourth quarter.

During their earnings call (transcript on SeekingAlpha.com) they stated that their Automotive Diagnostics and Commercial Board Test units have not seen the rebound during the year that has occurred in other lines.

In other areas, image sensor and flash memory demand remains low, consumer audio/video and gaming driven orders are off from their third quarter levels and Japan and Europe based capacity orders remain subdued.

Teradyne believes they have gained memory share through the year, but the memory order rate remains low. They have had follow-on orders in high speed memory but major capacity orders from our customers haven't occurred yet and the flash sector continues to be a spot buying environment despite high utilization rates in the install base.

The Biggest Upside for 2010

Memory was highlighted as the biggest opportunity for upside in 2010. This includes test for both DRAM or NAND. Should be an interesting 2010!
